Version 3.0?

Last night, after having a talk with Taylor, Chris said “We should have another baby.”

I started laughing, thinking, “What about our son’s recent shitty behaviour makes having another one seem like a good idea?”

He had a reasonable explanation. “Well, I think we’ve screwed these two up too much, maybe we just need to start over.”

Philip Larkin – This Be The Verse

They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.

Hmmm…. well, I can’t go back in time, so I guess I’ve just passed on the fuck-upage to a new generation…

My husband feels the opposite way. He likes to joke, “You know..our first one turned out so well, I’m scared what our second one would be like.” I suppose he’s scared our second child might be the spawn of Satan.

Ah, men are funny, aren’t they??

Hey, Chris might have a good idea actually..”Third time’s a charm”, right? ;O)

    Jennywo,
I don’t mean to be, um, discouraging, but when our kids were little we thought the same thing as your hubby! 13 and 14 seem to be kicking my ass!
